I want my artwork to plant seeds of optimism and compassion and hopefully thought
provoking. I enjoy transporting the viewer to another place for reflection. My landscapes are
created from my imagination, playful and whimsical. It is as if these landscapes are captured, and
then placed in a strange museum for all to look at. Many of the people I paint do not have natural
skin colors but instead, depict people as a whole or of no one heritage. Many of the backgrounds
to my paintings break away from reality.
Image is important to me as well as the process of creating the under-painting, and both are
always a continual evolution. All the reused fabric and yarn is loosely assembled, randomly
applied for the texture, then stiffened, and finally painted over in oil. The surface has no reference
to the subject matter, other than adding complexity. I try not to tell the whole story, but to allow
you some mystery to solve.

"A Long Beach native with an art degree
from University of California, Santa
Barbara, who has lived in Seattle,
Richmond and Oakland. Heimburger has
a fondness for sculpture and developed
the lumpy, uneven surface to add depth,
dimension, character and distinction to
her paintings."
